Kona Coast

Our Kukio Hale retreat is shaped by an approach that balances refined modernism with the tactile richness of the Hawaiian landscape. We’ve crafted interiors that feel both composed and deeply connected to their surroundings, pairing clean architectural lines with layered materiality. Furnishings reflect a modernist contemporary sensibility, emphasizing pieces that integrate multiple materials—wood, metal, leather, and upholstery—within a single form. This refined language is softened through the introduction of primal, organic elements, creating a nuanced dialogue between precision and rawness. The material palette draws from lava, basalt, and driftwood, expressed through cool grays and blues that contrast with the warmth of larch paneling. Expansive openings dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, allowing the living spaces to fully engage with ocean views, cooling breezes, and the rhythms of island life.
