MATTHEW LEVERONE

FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

Matthew Leverone founded Leverone Design in 2007. Raised on the East Coast in a family deeply devoted to art and design, Matthew has lived in San Francisco for more than three decades, cultivating a design language that marries East Coast refinement with the casual style long associated with life in California. His interiors, richly layered and distinctly modern, privilege scale, proportion, and craftsmanship, honed over years of practice in prominent architecture and design firms. Leverone’s work has been featured in Architectural Digest, including the July/August 2025 print issue for the Maui Guest House and a digital feature for the Atherton Estate Project. Leverone was recognized on Wallpaper* Magazine 400 List as a national tastemaker in Interior Design for 2025 and 2026, named a finalist for the 2026 world-renowned Créateurs Design Awards, and honored as a 2026 regional winner in the Luxe Magazine Red Awards.

Leverone Design is a deeply collaborative studio, pairing its team’s talent with architects, artists, and craftsmen all united by one vision: a truly great home. That vision starts and ends with the client’s family — how they live, what they need, what inspires them. Across every project, the throughlines stay consistent: clean lines, distilled forms, artisanal flourishes, and warm, inviting textures. They bring these principles to residential projects across the U.S. and beyond.

OUR APPROACH

ARCHITECTURAL SENSITIVITY

Our approach is driven by three imperatives: client, context, and craftsmanship. We view each project as an opportunity to create a singular world, eminently livable and beautiful. We design homes uniquely attuned to the spirit of our clients—their dreams, their desires, and their particular vision of living graciously. We measure our success in our ability to elevate the rituals of our clients’ daily lives.

A nuanced understanding of context is crucial. Working from a place of mutual respect, we collaborate closely with architects to craft a holistic vision that maximizes the potential of the site, indoors and out. Ultimately, we see ourselves as advocates for both the client and the architect, all of us working in tandem to create subtly spectacular, soulful homes.

At Leverone, genuine style is not something that arises from artificially theatrical decorative effects. We take a quieter approach, one that emphasizes the classic virtues of proper scale, proportion, and craftsmanship. We focus on fine materials, luxurious textures, and meticulous details. The environments we create are complex but not overly complicated, distilled but not minimalist. We draw on the past to inform the present, designing joyful, contemporary homes that celebrate the beauty of the here and now.
